What is Case Management in a YouthBuild Program?

Oct 18, 2024

There’s always something exciting happening at Project REBUILD, but today, let’s dive into an essential part of our program—case management. Case management is one of the key tools we use to help our members achieve meaningful outcomes. It focuses on three main areas: program paperwork, life skills, and community support.

Program Enrollment & Paperwork: More Than Just Forms

Paperwork may seem tedious, but it’s a crucial part of our process. It ensures that members receive all available incentives and resources. Plus, it gives us valuable one-on-one time with each participant. Some of our best conversations happen during these moments—we discuss their interests, goals, and dreams. Goal setting is at the heart of our program because we want members not just to succeed here, but to thrive long after they leave. These conversations help us guide them toward those goals and create a roadmap for success.

Life Skills for Real-World Readiness

In the classroom, our members build essential life skills. This could range from practical math to time management. Recently, we focused on apartment hunting and budgeting. Members created detailed budgets that accounted for everything—from application fees to utility deposits—and explored what to look for in a lease. The experience opened their eyes to the realities of independent living and prepared them for future steps. We also bring in guest speakers who share expertise on topics like financial literacy and personal development.

Community Support: A Network of Care

We’ve built strong relationships with community partners to create a robust support system for our members. At Project REBUILD, we emphasize the importance of community and connection. If a member needs help stabilizing their home life—whether that’s through parenting classes, bus passes, or housing assistance—we connect them with the right resources. We’re committed to supporting the whole person at every stage, ensuring our members have the tools and stability they need to succeed.

Case management is the bridge between where our members are now and where they want to go. Through paperwork, life skills, and community support, we help them build the foundation for a successful future. At Project REBUILD, we’re here every step of the way.
